Fructose friendly NOGO Sauces wins prestigious medals in 2016 Australian Food Awards

Specialist producer of fructose friendly products, NOGO Sauces, is celebrating after winning two gold and one bronze medal at the 2016 Australian Food Awards (AFA) for the following products:


·         Jalapeno Salsa - Gold Medal 2016 Australian Food Awards

·         Zingy Ginger & Spring Onion Finishing Sauce - Gold Medal

·         Spicy Tomato Sauce - Bronze Medal


Newly established in October 2016 in the Yarra Valley, creator and producer Meg Farrell entered only three of her twelve products from the new fructose friendly range of sauces in the award after a friend suggested it.


Meg developed the range of fructose friendly sauces after being diagnosed with Fructose Malabsorption, a condition which requires those with the condition to avoid foods with garlic and onion as well as many types of fruits and vegetables.

Meg said, "My diagnoses it made it virtually impossible to eat out at restaurants or cafes. And there was nothing with any flavour on the supermarket shelves that didn't contain garlic, onion or fructose that I could buy to use in my own cooking. It made sense that if I was making these sauces for my home cooking that I could also help others by fructose friendly range of sauces that are flavoursome and bring enjoyment back to food.

"People often assume that when products don’t have the essential ingredients of garlic and onion that food lacks flavour.  Through some clever cooking methods NoGo Sauces have managed to produce a high quality, delicious range that are actually flavoursome and great for everyone," she said.

The best part about being so successful in these awards is that Meg's NoGo Sauces were benchmarked against products that use garlic, onion and other non-fructose friendly foods and came away as medal winners.  

The AFA, conducted by The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) builds on the success of RASV’s Royal Melbourne Fine Food Awards (RMFFA) and is Australia’s leading national premium food awards program.


The Australian Food Awards celebrates excellence and recognises the best Australian food producers across eight major categories, including dairy, meat, poultry, seafood, fresh produce, grains and pulses, pantry goods and convenience foods
